There are many different factors that go into outfitting your new coffee shop. You will have to think about the shops decor, seating arrangements and menu design, just to name a few. But if you plan on selling coffee as your main beverage then you will want to take extra care when choosing a coffee maker and buy the best one that you can afford.
A standard coffee maker that you pickup at Wal-Mart is not going to be enough for your shop. You are going to need a commercial coffee maker that can brew gallons of tasty coffee every hour. You never want your customers to be waiting in line just because your coffee brewer can not keep up with the demand. Many people trust Bunn Commercial Brewers as their main workhorse in the kitchen and with good reason. They have a reputation for durability, quality and the price is cheap when compared to all of the use that you will get out of it. It is important to get a well known brand for other reasons as well. Some of the lesser known coffee brewers are hard to find parts and filters for. If you break the carafe in a Bunn Commercial Brewer then you can easily have it replaced and in many cases the same filters are shared between different models. The Bunn brand has been around for a long time and you will not need to worry about them going away any time soon.
Here are some common features that Bunn offers that you will want to look for in your brewer:
All stainless steel construction for easy clean up
Large capacity with a minimum of 2-3 gallons
Can accept a thermal carafe up to 8 inches tall
Splashguard funnels that will direct the hot liquid away from your hands
Another feature that Bunn offers is a double brewer where you can brew two air pots of coffee at the same time. This is a necessity to be able to keep up with demands in the busy mornings at a coffee shop. Bunn brews coffee consistently from the temperature to the same liquid amount of coffee that fills your pot each time.
The hardest part of running a coffee shop is finding suppliers that you can depend on. Whenever possible you should buy your hardware and coffee supplies from the same vender each time. They will have the research and experience in the field to recommend the items that you need and explain which ones are best for your shop. Once you have that relationship in place you can focus on the day to day operations of your business. Everything Coffee & Tee is a well known supplier in the Atlanta Area but service the whole Southeast including Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina. They are members of the Specialty Coffee Association of America and are dedicated to staying current with industry trends as well as educating themselves on your needs.
