A jewelry that is almost similar to diamond is the lab created cubic zirconia. It was intentionally designed, in fact, to imitate many of the qualities of a diamond. In the beginning it was designed not so much to use in jewelry, but rather to find something that would equal the hardness of diamonds for commercial use, it was soon established that it could also be well used in jewelry.
Being man made, it is much cheaper than diamonds yet it is difficult even for a jeweler to tell the difference unless the stone is closely examined. Because of this, many people are choosing cubic zirconia engagement rings over diamond rings. They are much cheaper and yet they can look just as classic and beautiful as their diamond counterparts.
There are several classic settings used for engagement rings. Frequently the stone will be set alone, in a gold, white gold or platinum band. This solitaire ring is perhaps the most classic of all rings. Sometimes a cluster setting is used, although care must be taken to chose a ring with a smaller sized cluster of gems otherwise it can be difficult to wear a wedding band along with it. Alternatively a larger stone is surrounded by a smaller stones, or the smaller stones are set right into the band rather than encircling the main stone. You can find cz engagement rings set in every one of these classic styles.
Another plus with choosing cubic zirconia rings over those set with more expensive precious stones is that it is far less costly to replace the ring should anything happen to it. Diamond rings can be very expensive and as such they must often be insured against theft or loss. In that situation, not only do you have to make the initial investment in buying the ring but you need to make regular insurance payments. This is usually not necessary with cz engagement rings.
Finding a perfect CZ ring for a wedding doesn't have to be too difficult. All you need is a proper knowledge that will allow you to easily find your target and then know the worth of the diamond. With this information you will be able to bargain with the seller and will know when it is too much. Remember that there is nothing worst than going shopping for a product that we don't know anything about. When that happens we often buy something that makes first good impression on us. However, very often that first impression is very misleading.
If you want the stylish and timeless look of diamonds yet are not able to afford to buy the exact design of ring that you desire, you may find that buying a CZ ring is a great alternative. Whereas you may only be able to afford an extremely simple, small diamond ring you will find that you can choose almost any style of engagement ring set with CZ stones, at a fraction of the cost you would pay for a diamond ring set in the same style. It is one way of being able to choose style and class at an affordable price.
