Costa Rica is suffering slavery, no more pineapple destruction!

Hi dear Ecologist friends:

From the beautiful and part virgin Costa Rica i wanna make a call to
the people that can help stopping the pineapple business in Buenos
Aires, Costa Rica. Del Monte has been in this lands for about 50 years
and now the land is getting useless, the 90% of the persons that live
at the place are over the limits of extreme poorness, unfair work
situations, unfair nature treat, unfair human pollution against humans
and all the country.
Blood problems most of the persons get because of the chemical that
delivers and nobody can stop them because the freindship betwwe the
person who contol from the goverment part.

Hello lists,

First time post here but mapping projects are very interesting, esp as suggested in this context. 

I have been to this area of Costa Rica working with a community in Terraba to make a video on a proposed dam project. I remember Buenos Aires, which is the large town near there and the fields of pineapple making a kind of repeating desert.

I did not get to spend a lot time in Costa Rica, but we did work with the youths of the community to make this video which is now hosted at the first nations video portal isuma.tv (a great resource) if you would like to watch it for context of that area. It is in Spanish with English subtitles. The video was part of a successful strategy to organize to stop the dam by the people featured in it. Organization in such a situation is key.
