First time post here but mapping projects are very interesting, esp as suggested in this context.
I have been to this area of Costa Rica working with a community in Terraba to make a video on a proposed dam project. I remember Buenos Aires, which is the large town near there and the fields of pineapple making a kind of repeating desert.
I did not get to spend a lot time in Costa Rica, but we did work with the youths of the community to make this video which is now hosted at the first nations video portal
isuma.tv (a great resource) if you would like to watch it for context of that area. It is in Spanish with English subtitles. The video was part of a successful strategy to organize to stop the dam by the people featured in it. Organization in such a situation is key.
This mapping project is really quite incredible. I am based in NYC so if there are some gatherings / projects I would like to attend / participate also.
