When I activate the FeedBurner email notification service for a feed I noticed that the HTML form has a hidden input named url that has a value of something like the following:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/~e?ffid=0011122

Here is my problem. I have many feeds on my site that all use the same form but I do not store the feed id in my db (only the feed uri because the managment API will accept either as feed ids.) Is there a way for me to pass the uri in place of the feed like how the API works? I dont want to unecceceraly perform API calls nor do I want to store both the id and the uri in my db is I can avoid it.

Any tips?

Hi Paul,

Unfortunately, the ability to pass uri is not currently available via the html subscription form, it does have to be the url with the feed id included.

It is a good idea to provide that functionality for folks who want to customize the form for multiple feeds.

Also, one thing to note is that you need activate the email service for each of the feeds you want to offer email subscription for. Even if you offer the form (with a valid feed id) on your site to users, the service needs to be activated via feedburner.com for that id or it will not work.

Hope this helps.

Thanks jessiec,

I do realize that the email notification needs to be enabled for each feed manually through the site and not through the API. I was dissapointed when I first realized it though. You (I) would think it would logically fit into the services list for the managment API.

As for the email form, I did a little work around on my side to store the feed id. I think I should be good to go now.

Thanks again,
Paul

You're right Paul, the API doesn't contain this newest piece of functionality yet but rest assured it's in our plans to updated it very soon as we'd like to maintain full consistency across all the interfaces to Feedburner.com

Feel free to post any additional suggestions/feature requests or email via feed...@feedburner.com
