I have Feedburner and the Socialize tools set up, but it sometimes
takes hours to get new posts to publish to Twitter. Why does it take
so long? Can I make it quicker somehow?

Same problem here, it happened since I change the host for my website.. Usually it takes only 5 - 10 minutes, now it randomly appears by hours..
The server settings were all normal too.. Ping and resync aren't helping either
