email subscribers not showing up

I am trying to use and feedburner email subscriptions and at first I just used the "Subscribe by email" widget in my Blogger design template.  I told people to try it and then looked all through blogger and tried to find a list of my subscribers.  After doing some searches I found you could only see the list from feedburner.  Since I had not set my blog up on feedburner I figured there was no chance of me seeing this list.  So then I set it up on feedburner and tried signing up with a couple email addresses I have.  Days later nothing shows up under my email subscribers.  So then I tried using the code snippet in the publicize tab and added it to blogger from there, and signed up a few email addresses. Days later still no subscribers are showing in my email subscribers.

I have the same problem.  3 people subscribed and feedburner shows 0 subscribers

I believe Google are discontinuing feedburner. Is that correct?  How do we monetise our RSS feeds anyway?
