Are you using Wordpress dot com or Wordpress dot org? I have not had trouble with feeds on Wordpress dot com.
Sounds like you are already aware of the 512K maximum! I check that in Feedburner directly, to make sure the size of my feed isn't too large. I don't know how you would do that within Thesis template. Your second question is a good idea, to make sure you aren't including more stuff than you need in your feed. As you said, there is a setting that will allow you to have any of the following:
- Blog post title and several word excerpt,
- Entire text content of blog post, or
- Entire text content of blog post including images, maybe other stuff too e.g. video (not certain about that last part)
You asked about the source for that choice of options. I can navigate there from the main dashboard in Wordpress dot com for my Wordpress blogs. I don't know if it works differently for Wordpress dot org (or self hosted) blogs though.
