This is Mac OS X (Snow leopard) on a home LAN, router (Airport
Extreme) attached to an IPStar satellite modem.
I've set up the router to use Google DNS, and I've logged into my
OpenDNS account and removed the one network from my account.
However, if I enter a bad URL I still get OpenDNS Guide popping up
with a list of possibilities. I *assume* that means I'm still somehow
using OpenDNS. Tried hard coding the Gooogle DNS server addresses into
the Mac's Network pref, but it didn't make any difference.
Any suggestions?
Regards,
David

I had the same issue with redirects to my ISP's search page
(frontiernet.net), after reconfiguring my router to use Google DNS.
However, after about 48 hours, the redirects are no longer occurring.
Perhaps someone with more understanding of DNS than I have can explain
this.

Sometimes after you change certain settings on your router, it doesn't
actually apply until a reboot of the router.
Just a suggestion.

Have you visited this bad URL before?
If so, did you flush the DNS caches?

It just takes a while sometimes for the DNS info to propagate, I
think...

Thanks for the suggestions, all. I neglected to mention that I had,
indeed, flushed the dns cache.
So I'll give it a few days and see if it comes right.

Just to close the loop on this, it's now come right: I guess it just
takes some time for the changes to happen.

David
