Hi,

I was contacted by members of the GWT and Google Financial team
earlier to advise on their usage of ICU4J. As I'm working with
colleagues like Grahame Grieve on Eclipse UOMo, also largely based on
ICU4J.

The most interesting aspect of it may be the support for the UCUM
standard for Units of Measurement.
Many government and multinational organizations including the CDC or
WHO recommend or even require it where measurements are part of public
data. Governments around the world also use it as unit-related code
standard.

A few examples:

https://cabig.nci.nih.gov/workspaces/VCDE/Data_Standards/cde_alpha_UCUM

As well as a (not necessarily complete) list of organizations dealing
with UCUM:

Regards,

If GPDE is either already using UCUM, or intends to, please reply
here.
Or update the UCUM link list of supporting frameworks and External
Organizations.

Thanks
