This node loses my login every five minutes! I have to login over and over and over ...
also i never get forwarded to the site i was trying to reach. I have to re-enter it manually.
also, links to help are non-existent. there are links to some kind of wacky-wiki content management system but of course they don't work ... a maze of tiny twisting passages, all alike, is what this feels like. will a tiny dwarf threaten me with an axe soon?
also: why are you making people sign up for accounts? i mean, it's your network, you can charge money or inject banner ads or whatever you want, but i really am sick of every site in the world needing to collect my e-mail in order to work right.
please understand i love PT and everything you guys do for Portland. but this node has real problems.

You are seeing the wifidog splash page. This captive portal software
*is* different than Fresh Pot and some of our other nodes. It lets
you avoid having a gigantic recycled PC as a router stuffed somewhere
waiting to die. Instead, all we need is a single access point. It is
using the same operating system. It just looks different on the
outside.

That indicates that wifidog can't ping your machine and that it can't
see that you've generated any internet traffic in the last 15
minutes. When you appear to disappear, wifidog thinks you've left and
deactivates your authorization.
mykle> also i never get forwarded to the site i was trying to reach.
mykle> I have to re-enter it manually.
Click the little "Use the Internet" clickable text on the left side of
the splash page. That should take you to your original destination.

You don't have to sign up for an account. Just click the little "Use
the Internet" clickable text on the left.

This sounds an awful lot like an offer to volunteer to help! ;-)
If you'd like to schedule a time with me so that you can demonstrate
your problem, I'd like to see it first hand to help make it better.
I've never been able to get it to fail like that for me.
Thanks for your report.
