Thanks Joost for the quick turnaround!  This is one of the reasons I like PTGui.

Without the saving hang for psb files, the gigapixel speed test comes back with a 2:27 finish compared to 9.1.3 time of 3:33 and 8.3.10 time of 3:03 and most of the speed improvement coming in the warping.  The saving of the psb is a bit longer - maybe 40% than in 9.1.3 but that might be my system.  Definitely overall a great improvement in the product - Joergen should be pleased with the new performance!

Joost,

Thank you for the update. But I am disappointed to discover that straight line
control points did not make it in with horizontal and vertical control points.

Helo Joost:

I installed the update earlier tonight - updating from v9.1.3  tonight but am having a problem when I go to the create Panorama stage. My OS is OS X 10.8.2 running on a quad core i5 27 inch 2.66Ghz iMac. The pan  I am working on is a single row of 13 images shot with a Nikon D600. The Raw images are processed in Lightroom 4.2 and exported as full resolution 8 bit per channel TIFFs. The photos used for the montage were shot withthe camera in a Really Right Stuff panoramic rim  with entrance pupil placed over the rotation point and PTGUi tells me that the alignment is "very good." When stitched the composite horizontal angle is a shade over 106 degrees angle.

I have tried to export both with no compression and with Packbits Compression

I am attempting to export the composite as a blended + layers PSB format document.  Size in pixels is 21,502 x 6,054 (optimum size)

Stitch using: PTGui
fast transform is off
Blend: Using PTGui
Feather is at the default
Interpolator: Lanczos8 (Sinc256)
Output resolution: 300 ppi

Each time I try I get this  error message: "Assertion failed: /Volumes/devel/wxprojects/PTGui/Project/XCode/../../../components/me line 1025: m_NumFinishedLayers == NumLayers()

I have attached a screen shot of the error message.

Also the document will not open in Photoshop CS6 Extended.

I had previously successfully stitched this set of documents  using PtGui Pro 9.1.3

Hi Ellis,

Could you make the project available? Probably I need just the .pts file.

Thanks

There are still differences between panotools optimizer and 'Include in
single pass'. See the previously posted example:
http://ge.tt/8t214GQ/v/0?c

On the "Camera panned, tilted and rotated " the example on
http://wiki.panotools.org/Perspective_correction
PTGui optimizer optimizes the FoV to ridiculously small values while
Panotools optimizer does well (both fail to do a good optimization if
the image has a wrong FoV).

Erroneously there is the warning saying I need to enable roll and pitch
in single pass mode, too. This wouldn't allow for yaw only corrections,
like in the wiki "Camera panned sideways" example. Luckily, if I choose
'No' the image is corrected perfectly anyway.

And straight line control points are desperately missed, as Jim wrote...

Hi Joost,
I have tried four times to upload the .pts file but Google groups (via chrome browser) keeps giving me a #340 error message.

Hi Robert,

It might be that the old version is still running. A Quit, Force Quit or reboot should fix that.

In any case you can always install the software manually: just drag the PTGui Pro application from the disk image into the Applications folder.

PTGui is now signed, you don't need to change the security settings anymore to install it.

Hi Erik,

I tried that image from the wiki and it worked fine in my test. There's always the risk of the optimizer getting to extremely low FoV. Therefore you should always first optimize only y/p/r. Once the image is roughly positioned you can include fov. But I'm sure you know how to do this :-)

The PTGui optimizer still uses a different algorithm so you might get different results, or the one optimizer might be more stable than the other for certain cases. But if you get the optimizer to fail even when following the above 2 step method please send me the project file.

You're right about the warning, I'll remove the warning in a next version since it's not needed anymore with the recommended two pass optimization.

Support for straight line CP's is on the wish list. I understand that it's dearly missed..

I upgraded yesterday to 9.1.5 a couple of days ago and am getting frequent crashes. Crash report says:

Exception Type:  EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000000

I can provide the full report if you'd like.

Just tried to update (as prompted from 9.1.3), and got a message from NIS that the setup file is infected with WS.Reputation.1.  What's up with that?

I upgraded on my desktop Norton 360 told me "...unsafe..." I ignored and
upgraded anyway with no adverse results.
I then upgraded on my laptop, also running Norton 360, with no message from
Norton; again with no adverse results.

Don't know what you have done from Version 9.1.3 onwards... this version is working without problems... 9.1.4 and 9.1.5 have the problem, that they cannot give me a correct output...

here the message:

Error: Assertion failed: ..\..\..\components\membitmap\TjnPhotoshopIO.cpp, line 1025:
m_NumFinishedLayers == NumLayers()

what is interesting, the version 9.1.3 which works perfect needs double the ram than 9.1.4 or 9.1.5... (tried to upload the pts but I got a 340 error from Google)

oh and i'm still interested in the feature, that I can choose that ptgui is deleting all images in the project which I cannot see in the panorama Editor ;) would be a great help in my gigapixel projects... I know, I know, I posted it several times the past years, but I'm still waiting for that feature ;)

ah and by the way I did some advertisement for you guys in the German book "Die wilde Seite der Fotografie 2.0" and in the German professional photographic magazine "Photographie"... I got some features... and I really love working with you program - until version 9.1.3 ;)

Hi,

Yes there's still a bug remaining in 9.1.5 for layered Photoshop output: if one or more of the layers is completely outside the visible area of the panorama then you get this error. Disabling these layers in the 'include images' list will work around the problem, and the bug will be fixed soon in 9.1.6.

Thanks for promoting PTGui! I'm aware of you and everyone else's wishes and requests.

ahhh good to know, that this is a known bug... so I will be working with the version 9.1.3 until the next one will come out :)

and I cannot say it often enough, great work guys with this really wonderful software :)

oh, I have now also an English Facebook page (the German one you will likely not understand), although still very few fans on the English page, but I'm updating there my work (parallel to the German one) if you are interested in following my gigapixel projects... http://www.facebook.com/Terapixel.eu
