Does PTGui pick sharpest pixel within overlap?

Inquiring minds want to know <g>

I was wondering if the PTGui algorithms pick pixels that are closer to
the center of the lens within the overlap. It seems like that would be
advangeous for IQ, especially for zoom lenses .

Suppose I have three images in a pano. For purposes of discussion,
suppose there is 50% overlap, so the middle image pixels are
duplicated in the left and right image.

As part of blending, does PTGui take into account that a pixel nearer
the center will tend to be sharper than a pixel further from the
center.

For the example described above, a pixel at the far right edge of the
left image would be in the center of the lens for the middle image.
This would be less of a factor for 30% overlap.

Would something like a "Blend priority" factor be taken into
consideration, within the image pair?

Just curious. Thanks.

(and use of "pixel" may be flawed, as sharpness may not apply to an
individual pixel)

Hi Lynn,

Yes, the PTGui blender prefers to use the center parts of the images, it
will place the seam as close to the center as possible.

If you increase blend priority, more of the image gets used.
