Hello,

I'm trying to stitch a panorama which dimensions are 51000x15575
(stitched from 72 pictures). Everything goes well until I try to
create the panorama. PTGui warps etc. the images properly, but in the
end says that there is not enough free space in my external hard drive
to save the panorama. Although there is more than 400gb of free space.
Earlier when there really wasn't enough space, PTGui said that the
panorama needs about 50gb of free space. I'm trying to save it in .psb
file format. Does anyone know what the problem here could be?

hi larry,

ptgui has no problems doing such a panorama, and I suspect that you
forgot to set the temp folder in the ptgui prefs to a large&empty
internal HD (external is possible but not recommended). once you set
the preferred folder to somewhere where there is enough room, ptgui
will finish the work.

Hi Joergen,

actually I did set a temp folder at the same external hard drive where
I tried to stitch the panorama. The temp folder is full of temp files,
but PTGui still said that there is not enough free space. Is there any
other solution that comes to your mind? I'm asking because it's a bit
difficult to find out myself, because it takes about 24 hours to
stitch the panorama, so it's a bit inconvenient to just try different
things... =)

Well, perhaps it would be much faster if you specified the temp folder
on an internal drive. At least if the external isn't a fast eSATA one.
Having temp space and the result file on the same disk isn't a good idea
either.

I recently did a panorama slightly bigger than yours (1 gigapixel) from
80 images in about 14 hours - on my 10 year old Athlon 1.4 GHz, 1.3 GB
RAM machine. PTGui should be much faster on a more recent machine. But
it is limited by the temp disc speed...
