Hi all,

Finally version 9.1 is ready!

It's available for download from the website, or through
Help -> Check for Updates in PTGui.

For an overview of the new features see:
http://www.ptgui.com/whatsnew.html

Also here's a new tutorial for the new Align to Grid tool:
http://www.ptgui.com/examples/creating_gigapixel_panoramas_with_a_robotic_panohead.html

For a detailed list of changes see the version history:

Thats great!

There are a lot of improovements for gigapixel panorama creation, and
I thought if you'll add another one feature for it.
Now it is completely impossible to find a number of image in detail
viewer/preview window, if the number of images is greater than ~1000.
could you please make it more readable?

Hi Dmitriy,

Do you mean smaller numbers?

One new way to find an image is by going to the control points (or mask or crop) tab and hovering the mouse over an image, and notice the ghost cursor in the panorama editor.

Thanks For your continued development Joost,

I look forward to using 9.1 even though I did not stumble accross any
problems in the Beta version, which I have already made a lot of use.

Al the best, Hugh.

Yep, Best would be to choose font size, font type or may be to choose
to display or not circle background around.

Lots of awesome features. Discovered the first few by playing but
then had to read the what's new to make sure I didn't miss any 'cos
they're all useful to me ;-)

I did find one thing that was working differently. One of my uses for
PTGui is manually cropping/rotating large batches of images. Cropping
the image in the panorama editor now increases the output file size.
Not a huge problem as you can just hit set optimum size, but it could
result in excessively large output files if you're not watching it.

Cheers

Hi

Thanks Joost. I just downloaded 9.1 and started stitching panos from a
fisheye and the new way that control points are added to edges makes a
huge difference, seems to do a much better job with zenith shots that
are mostly sky. Maybe it is some other change, but working well.

In masks, I think the buttons to save, load and clear masks have
disappeared though.

Great job.

They are iconic, in the left and right bottom corner...

..and you can now right-click in the masking window as well for quick
access to all functions.

Hi,

I also tried the 9.1 version, but for me, the new control points
closer to the edges are problematic. My panohead is always a little
bit in the frame (180° fisheye lens), and ptgui now detects control
points on the panohead... Is it possible to control some kind of crop
region beforehand where ptgui should not find control points? Or can I
revert back to the old way of finding control points?

Cheers,

wouter

Use a template that has masks saved for this. Same feature is in
version 8.

Ok, thanks. Didn't know you could do this with templates, will digg
into it :-)

Thanks for the tip!

Still 2 questions:
- how can I apply one mask to the complete series of images (working
with linked exposures, so there are quite a few)
- how can I save this as a template when I am not sure how many
exposures each new project will have (sometimes it is 8, sometimes 13
etc...)

You can select multiple images in the Source Images tab, right-click and
use Copy/Paste mask.

You would need to make a template for the highest possible number of images.

Thanks for the swift reply!

Feel pretty stupid now for not trying it outside of the mask tab. Will
make a template as you say, including masks and crop circle. Then for
each new project the workflow should be: loading images - apply
template - align images.

Thanks,
