Since I upgraded to Psiloc Connect 1.17 i have noticed that occasionaly
-- sometimes two or three times in a day, sometimes not for a few days
-- doesn't disconnect the wifi connection (no data is transferred, but
the connection is open) when the application using internet access is
shut down. I have to disconnect manually.

This permanent connection drains the battery of my N95 very fast.

I too reported this problem, it is due to the new V30 Nokia firmware.
Here is the email I received from Psiloc support on the matter:

The problem is with the new Nokia firmware. Psiloc Connect uses
information from scanning to connect to best available connection.
Sometimes you won't notice when the switch is made.
The problem is that when u started eg browser with WLAN and Psiloc
Connect switches to GSM. Then the connection is marked as active but
no application is binded to it unless you refresh page.
When you close the application the connection still is marked active.
It seems that Operating System is using it. Psiloc Connect won't stop
active connections. That may be the part of problem you are
experiencing.
We are working on solving that in next version.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require further support
with Psiloc applications.

Best regards

Thanks for the information. I am however using 21.0.0.16, sice V30 isn't
available for my branded phone yet.

Hello,

Has there been any progress with regard to this problem during the
recent weeks? I installed Psiloc Connect 1.17 on my N82 a couple of
days ago, and have been experiencing the same problem as Enrique and
Henrik described above. My phone permanently stays connected to the
WLAN network after closing all applications, and this drains my
battery. :-(

Hello,

I'm not aware of any progress at all, so I "solved" my immediate problem
by ditching Psiloc Connect and instead signing up for an unlimited data
plan.

Not a perfect solution, but it works most of the time (when I'm not
roaming internationally).

I would like to know what Psiloc support is doing about this? Most new
Nokia v30 firmwares do NOT work with the latest Psiloc Connect
release .. When will a fix be made available ?

I've been having this problem for a while now. On a v20 firmware on an
N95-4.
Psiloc Connect never times out & disconnects like it used to. Version
1.17.
I have to force-close the connection using the Connection Manager (I
mean, "Conn. mgr." :D ). Kind of a pain in the ass.

Hello again.

An update from a user's point of view:

I updated my N95 from a V20 firmware to V31.0.017 a few weeks ago, and
reinstalled Psiloc Connect 1.17 out of curiosity. So far, I have NOT
seen even one single failed disconnect.

That is good, since I like Psiloc Connect.
