A while ago, and with much regret, I stopped using Psi because of its
poor support for JID escaping, which is used by (among other things)
spectrum2 transports for other IM systems.

I have not, however, been able to find another XMPP client of otherwise
the same quality.

The problem is that, if an escaped JID is used, like
user\40do...@transport.address, psi makes it
user40...@transport.address, adding an irrelevant extra JID to the
user's roster. It probably causes other failures in the handling of
messages involving such JIDs.

I am trying to see if spectrum2 can be configured to use % instead of
\40 successfully, but am not getting far with that either. If I could
make one or other of these work, I'd be using Psi.

Is there anything that can be done, or has been done in a newer version
than that currently in Debian wheezy (0.14)?
