Effect.SlideDown doing a weird bounce

I am noticing with Effect.SlideDown that it will open an LI about 30px
past where content exists and then snap up to the real height. Is
there a way to prevent this? I want it to slide down to the real
height and stay there.

I can put together a demo but was hoping someone might know what is
the problem offhand.
