Hi Chris,

Passing this along to the ProtoGENI users list as well for additional expertise.

I think that the procedure you want to follow here is to create a link between two machines and then add an interface on the third machine to that link. I know that you can do this by hand editing the link tag in the rspec, but I'm not sure whether there's a Flack way too. I don't think you should need to touch the VLAN tag at all.

Can someone who knows this stuff better than I verify?

Thanks,
Mark

Hello everybody,

I am trying to put 3 machines reserved from the utah emulab or uky emulab aggregate on the same vlan. Trac doesn't seem to be saving my settings when I change the vlan number in link editor. When I apply and click the submit button the slice never updates correctly and even when the particular vlans are selected from the beginning they end up choosing a different number than the one I picked. Am I missing something here?

Thanks,

Chris

Correct, LAN support isn't available in Flack right now so you will want to hand-edit the RSPEC.  I will be looking into adding LAN support soon~  It also seems the vlan tag isn't set correctly so I'll fix that~

Actually, looking at the schema it appears that vlantags cannot be set on a request and are only provided in the manifest for reference.  I'll make sure the vlantag isn't editable~

Correct, we don't currently allow users to set VLAN tags.

In most cases, users never even see the VLAN tags, as the interfaces on
their nodes are used in untagged mode. You have to explicitly request
802.1q tagging on the interface.
