Dear All,

The exam review is on 3 April at 10-12 in my office, 6106 in the EDIT
building. This information was given on the exam question sheet, but
was probably not very visible, since we have received many questions
about it.

I will have all exams in your office, and you can come and discuss

Right: this can take a long time with call by name but should be
almost immediate with call by value. So it's enough if you manage to
run it with call by value. Can you see any difference? You can also
try with a smaller number and see what the difference is then.

Aarne.

It says in the lab description:
------------------------------ -------------
Include a log on the test run, showing the call of lab3 for every program
in the testsuite.
------------------------------ -------------
What does this mean? Should we just make a file called "log" and write
things down (copy), or should it be done in some special way?

 Hi,
My lab partner and I have a problem in Lab 3 with good7.fun. Instead
of getting a result 1 we get infinite loop. The thing is that it seems
the number 111111 is too big. it works properly with a smaller number
instead. Should we try to fix it and have our stack not to overflow or
is it ok like that? (we are coding in Java)

Some of you mentioned an inconsistency in the testsuite for lab2: although
the lab says that you can optionally check for the presence of a return
statement, not all god programs contained one. This is now fixed, the new
testsuite is available
there: [link]

No, you're right, this is a problem.
There was actually a bug in the test suite: it counted as correct a program
that returns the correct output, even if it exits with a non zero value.
This is now fixed and I also updated the input and output files. Thanks.

 Thanks,
unfortunely that doesn't solve the problem.

However, I just found that the testsuite works if you run it in GHCi
instead of compile it:

$ cd testsuite/
$ ghci progs-test-lab2.hs
Prelude Main> :run main ../

This is because compiled programs handle IO differently:
[link]
