With the beta version of Profiles we would often bulk import items such as narrative and photos directly into the database. Bulk loading this data saved us time, but it is very difficult in the RDF-based version of Profiles.

Could the HR data import be enhanced to include a way to import Overview, Photo, and really anything supported by the ontology? Eventually, as we bring in data that is currently in Gadgets, this utility would be very helpful for that data too.

We do know how to import data that always comes from a relational source, but what we need is a way to support imports where sometimes it is done through the editing UI by users, and at other times it is done through a back end process. This seems similar to the “harvesters” that the VIVO product supports.

Could we discuss this in tomorrow's call?

UCDenver is also very interested in this functionality, especially for searchable ontologies (overview)
