Just a quick update on my mother. She will probably be in the neuro ICU at UAB for a week. Her mental status will deteriorate for a while as the clots resolve and release substances that cause inflamation and swelling. Today she has been most difficult to arouse normally, but got really feisty and moved all four limbs when her nures had to reposition her ng tube. So, that is good, and means she is not in a coma. There is a reasonable chance that she can regain her former state eventually, if the hazards she faces don't do her in. So far no infections are present, and she continues to breathe on her own. Resting mostly quietly. We are essentially in waiting mode. She is unlikely to require surgery. Appreciate your concerns. John

Hello all,
Keep praying hard! Prayer is powerful--moreso when people know they are encircled in prayer!! I spoke with John Whirley earlier today, where they were still waiting to hear some results of some tests. His mother has had a very serious head injury, though at the time of our conversation, she was not in a coma, per se, but she was not fully concious. John, Anne, and the family could use your prayers, too. Most of you know how tiring it is to worry, to be concerned and at "attention" when a loved one is in such a position.
May God's healing power be upon those who are looking after John's mother, and may the comfort of Christ envelope her and surround the whole family.
Take Care, and I will update you tomorrow.
Marise
