PROPOSED ACTS OF KINDNESS
Our deacon chair Ruth Holland has been under enormous stress lately, facing many challenges among her family and others she loves. As we all know, Ruth has a heart of gold; she gives her all to help others, even when she herself is in need. She has received many children into her home over the years and has essentially raised several as her own. Among them is Terry Schmitz, now 19. Terry attended Prescott as a child growing up. Frankly he has never had much support from his family. Ruth, his godmother, has been his family. With her support and his own amazing determination, he overcame many obstacles to finish high school, and he is now pursuing college studies.
Terry's mother died last Tuesday. Her obituary is shown at the end of this email. We're having a memorial service for her in the sanctuary Tuesday night at 6:30. If you can possibly come, please do, even if you don't know the family. I feel our presence would be as much for Ruth as for the family members.
Also, note from the announcements below that we are receiving donations for Terry. His mother had no burial insurance, and I don't believe she left Terry anything. Others have chipped in, but Terry could use whatever support we can give him. Obviously this is a hard time to be making donations, but even a little bit will help. See instructions under the Dec. 1 entry below.
Thanks.
Tom Walsh

DONATIONS FOR SATURDAY SUPPER GIFTS
It will next be our turn to do Saturday Supper on Dec. 19, the Saturday before Christmas. Once again we’ll serve our guests at tables, and in addition we’ll have Christmas presents to hand out. If you’d like to donate money for this, you can do it through the church as a designated offering or give money to Ruth Holland, who can buy such items wholesale.
