Some of Prescott Church's stalwart volunteers have requested help from other volunteers. Please respond if you can pitch in:
First, this Saturday evening, Dec. 5, Ruth Holland needs drivers to meet in the church parking lot at 5:00 p.m. as she takes our children (ages 3-12) to see the new Starry Nights. This holiday light show is a drive-through display at Shelby Farms, featuring more than a million environmentally friendly LED lights illuminating dozens of all-new displays along with some old favorites. If you have a car and can drive, please call Ruth at 767-5899 or cell 605-0426.
Second, Anne Whirley is directing the Christmas play starring our children and youth on Sunday, Dec. 13. She needs someone to volunteer to be in charge of costuming the children. She also needs items that can be used in costumes, especially something to put on the sheep. These don't have to be elaborate. She would also like:
· a lit star to put atop the tree
· a bald headed baby doll
· a hay bale
· maybe even a constructed "set" if there's time.
Please contact Anne (761-3713 or cell 413-4708) if you can help with any of this.
Finally, thanks to all who attended the memorial service for Terry Schmitz's mother last night, and for those who have donated money to help Terry, age 19, as he is essentially his mom's only immediate family survivor, aside from some aunts and uncles. She died without insurance. Ruth Holland, Terry's godmother, did a wonderful job of making arrangements, as did Marise Tuttle in leading the service, Rodney Rastall in providing a photo presentation, Mary Field and Ann Odom in providing music, George Nelson in handling the sound, and Mary Alice Brake in collecting the donations and I assume doing the bulletin. I may have omitted others who helped out; if so, perhaps someone can speak up.
