I just wanted to give you an update on plans for the future.
The Project on Religion, Culture, and Globalization became an SGA
recognized student group last semester in order to apply for SGA
funding.
This semester we were awarded $500, which was a great start! We were
able to bring Hugh Byrne to campus and are currently in the process of
getting a film to show next year (if you have a suggestion for a film
to buy that is under $100, let us know!).
We applied for SGA funding again for next year and have received our
budget allotment.
PRCG was awarded nearly $3,000!!! This is a huge surprise and great
news!
The plan is to bring Mark Jeurgensmeyer, author of "Terror in the Mind
of God: The Global Rise of Religious Violence," to speak to a large
campus audience.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions for the event (time,
place, format).
We're also thinking about inviting Congressman Dennis Kucinich, Juan
Cole (a Professor of Modern Middle East and South Asian History in the
History Department at the University of Michigan), and Reverend Barry
Lynn (Executive Director of Americans United for Separation of Church
and State).
Suggestions are always welcome, and I hope you all have a wonderful end
of semester!
Sincerely,
Lauren Breedlove
This is GREAT news! I understand this new funding is thanks
to YOUR good work. Hence:
MEGA-MEGA-CONGRATULATIONS!!
And thank you VERY much for your excellent efforts. You rock!
