Advisory: ROADSIDE SAFETY CHECK IN THE CALUMET (005TH) DISTRICT
Hi Bill VE,
The Chicago Police Department will conduct a Roadside Safety Check in the Calumet (005th) District at 11800 S. Halsted. The Roadside Safety Check will commence at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2012 and end at 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2012.
During roadside safety checks, police officers slow down traffic, stop cars at regular intervals and watch for drivers who show signs of alcohol impairment and other violations as noted below.
“This program is conducted year round to ensure drivers are operating their vehicles safely,” said Superintendent, Garry F. McCarthy. “This is part of an ongoing strategy to keep the city streets safe for Chicago’s residents and commuters.”
The Roadside Safety Check conducted in the Monroe (012th) District on 14-15 September 2012 resulted in the following:
Driving Under the Influence 8
Drivers’ License Violations 16
Insurance Violations 9
Other Citations 14
Total Citations 47
Non-Traffic Arrests 2 (1 Possession of Cannabis)
(1 Warrant)
Vehicles Towed 13
