Got the book in the mail today!

I have tried to read various books about C++. Either they're to
simplistic or too dull and theoretic, leaving me stuck "between a rock
and a hard place".
I've been programming in various languages fore some years, and the
latest endeavor was the C# language.
I did this through an educational institute, and felt that the
language provided good usability, but it was way to "chatty". Easy
things are presented through very abstract code structures, thus not
what I want for solving problems without having to rely on a pre-
defined framework to do things as simple as output a string of text.
Also the language is a moving target with new major revisions two
times each year.
After reading just the first fifty pages, i know that this is the book
I've ALWAYS looked for, but it didn't exist. Until now.
Thanks for taking the time to write this comprehensive "door stopper".
Finally I can learn C++.

I hope you enjoy the book Chris :)
I picked it up a few weeks for self-study and I like it a lot so far.
I like that fact it's a book on programming instead of a language
manual, and the exercises are actually quite fun, even though I do
admit I've only worked on the exercises which Prof. Stroustrup has
posted solutions for. However, I'll try to do all of them from the
following chapter (chap. 6) on.
