Dear all,

Following up on our meeting and the long discussions during GNOME.Asia summit we have compiled OOo4Kids in Cambodian. The files can be downloaded from http://playground.greenboard.org.cn/OOo4Kids/ (OOo4Kids_0.51_Linux_Intel_X86-32_km_julien.tar.gz is the Khmer one).

OOo4Kids is a lighter version of OpenOffice.org with a redesigned and simplified user interface.

The software is not packaged so in order to install you need to extract the tarball in your home and run the following executable:
ooo4kids0.5.1/program/soffice from the install directory from a terminal window or Nautilus.

Can someone test the Khmer version and give us feedback?

Thanks a lot.

Fred
ps: those are Linux executables.... ;-)

Works like a charm on my Karmic. I like the menu that Khmer letters are
displayed in the best size and type, and is easy to read and navigate.

I will be one of the kids.

Thanks a lot for the fast feedback! We'll submit the work upstream to
the OOo4kids project and hopefully it will be included in the next
release, so everyone can get a packaged version for Linux and Windows.

In the meantime if you have any other comments, please do not hesitate
to post them here.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for the feedback, can you tell us what distribution you
are using? Also, as I did not manage to make it work after building
it, it would be nice if you could take a couple of screenshots when
you get the chance.

I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala.
Also, as I did not manage to make it work after building
it, it would be nice if you could take a couple of screenshots when

I don't know what screenshots I should make, because I just downloaded the file OOo4Kids_0.51_Linux_Intel_X86-32_km_julien.tar.gz, extract it to my home directory and run this "/home/visay/km/ooo4kids0.5.1/program/soffice" from the terminal and that's it.

What exactly doesn't work for you? Did the program not start at all?

My bad actually, I failed to install Khmer support for my Ubuntu until
Fred pointed that the locale name was central Khmer, I was looking for
Khmer at K and Cambodian at C... without success.

I got it working now and will be able to do the screenshots myself :-)
