Weird giant characters instead of notes

No sound

I recently installed Power Tab Version 1.7 Build 80 on to my laptop running Microsoft XP Professional from a guitar tuiton CD. When I run Power Tab files there is no sound, even though I can see it running as the notation changes from black to red and back again. The CD also has video and MP3 files. These open and play fine in Real Player with full sound, so it appears this is not a problem with computer itself. Any suggestions on how to rectify this. insert notes

HI, New user question. I want to insert a few notes into the middle of a song; but I don't see any way to do that other than to place the cursor at the point of interest, cut everything to the end of the song, insert my notes and then past the part that was cut. 	Tabbing out harmonies.
	I know how to write harmonies.but when I tab them out,they don't play at the same time. Only one note plays. Is there a way to hear my harmony,because I've seen people tab out rhythm and lead parts,and I'm basically doing the same thing. Can you help me out? 	Blank Space
	While editing a tab, I ended up with a bunch of white space between 1/8 notes. I know how to highlight the area but I can't figure out how to delete or remove the unnecessary space. 	Is there any way to show the note name?

File Not opening

Helloe everyone, I am new to using Power Tab and really like it. I tabbed out about 3/4 of a song the other night and saved the file many times. I went to open it today and it has nothing in it. I tried the recovery option with the same results. Any help appreciated.
