Joseph Ferreira-Pico

Within http://www.neps.ics.uminho.pt/geneweb/gwd.exe?b=SantoAntonio;lang=pt;p=jose;n=ferreira;oc=1: Joseph Ferreira married to Madalena Fialha, list Joseph death as 27 May 1706, Santo Antonio, Pico.

 

Attached is what I think is his death record. Can anyone make out if this is the correct record and his age and wife’s name at death. Does the record state if he was from Santo Antonio, Pico and any hint of his parents?

Hi Mary, 

I don't see Ferreira as Jose's surname.  Here's as I read

It reads Jose (Pra) Pereira  natural of Santo Antonio's parish and married to Magdalena Fialha (Magda.a F.a) passed away on the 27th day of the month of May 1706 of 40 years of ages more or less.  There is no mention of parents (as is in standard records of this type).  Having received all of the Holy Sacraments and did not have a will.

Hi Mary,

I didn't feel right about these surnames and went back to take a look at the record as shown on the cca site and I don't think this is your Jose.  Others may want to help but the way I read the names on this record is, Jose Pavao and Magdalena Ferreira.

I also found Manuel Ferreira Fialho's marriage record but don't know if you already have it.  It is marriages 1710-1741.0065 and .0066.

Thank you Margaret! Do you think www.neps.ics.uminho.pt has it wrong? I was wondering because I can’t find more information for this family in Santo Antonio and have found information in the actual records different then the web site. On the marriage record for Manuel Ferreira on Sao Jorge it shows his parents as Joseph Ferreira and Magdalena Fialha from Santa Antonio, Pico. Have a good weekend, Mary

Hi Margaret,

 

This family line hasn’t been easy to follow. The information I have is Manuel Ferreira born Santo Antonio, Pico married Isabel Machado de Lemos, 28 Feb 1726, Ribeira Seca, Sao Jorge.

Information is clear on this record. The marriage record for Manuel Ferreira Fialho on Pico doesn’t state he is a widower and there is a death record for him months after his marriage.

 

On Manuel and Isabel daughter’s  marriage record it list her father as Manuel Ferreira de Sousa wife Isabel Machado.
