Hello Group,

 

I am trying to understand the marriage record for Jose Fernandes and Maria Luz. It doesn’t state the name of Jose’s mother but after the father’s name is another males name. I would like that part translated.

It says that Jose is the legitimate son of  Domingos Fernades, native of the island of Graciosa and of this diocese, and  Ma ( Maria) viuva  (widow) of Francisco Ignacio Pacheco. I understand it to mean that Maria de Luz, whom he is marrying is the widow.

 

His mothers name is not mentioned.
