AmaZine Day is THIS Saturday!

[Portland Zine Symposium]

Please join us this Saturday for the fourth-ever AmaZine Day at the IPRC on 1001 SE Division in Portland!

AmaZine Day is a quarterly small press and zine fest taking place three times a year in the IPRC‘s expanded space to supplement the Portland Zine Symposium and organized by the PZS organizers. 

AmaZine Day is FREE to attend, or $5 if you'd like to table.

Since it’s May, we’re giving a nod to May day celebrations, highlighting presentations that are spring or labor-themed. We’ll be having a bake sale to provide snacks throughout the day (donation-based). We’ll also be serving up Arnold Palmers, Hot Lips sodas, and Ninkasi beer to quench your spring thirst!

Here's the schedule:

2:00PM Opening Tabling: Several zinesters tabling! Shop around for zines and meet local authors, illustrators, and other creators. We’ll be updating our list of of tablers as it grows. 
3:00PM Zine Workshop: Make a single-sheet zine! Check out this free workshop and learn how to make a single-sheet zine to express yourself…
4:00PM Reading and Presentations: Alex Wrekk (reading from some of her several writings about work experiences), Breena Bard (formerly Breena Wiederhoeft, reading from her  Xeric award winning graphic, Picket Line), and Sarah Mirk (reading from “Rodeo City,” an article she wrote for Oregon Humanities). Oregon Humanities is a non profit that bring Oregonians together to share ideas, to listen, think, and grow. Oregon Humanities published and distributes a free, printed magazine, that pays contributors. Oregon Humanities recently awarded $87,870 in grants to 20 Oregon nonprofit organizations. We’ll have several copies on hand or attendees of AmaZine Day and we’re thrilled to highlight an article by AmaZine Day tabler and in such an awesome community project. 
5:00PM Letter Writing and Envelope Making Workshop:  Letter writing exercises and some envelop design with Joshua James of Ms Valerie Park Distro and Sarah Geo of Go For Broke!
6:00PM Final Reading: Aron Nels Steinke (reading from his comics extensively about working in teaching) and Sarah Curtis (reading from a new, original piece).
7:00PM Take A Bow: We say goodnight and see you next time!

We still have plenty of space left for those who would like to table at the event. It's $5 cash sign up at the IPRC (1001 SE Division) or Portland Button Works (1322 N Killingsworth). Tablers get a small slice of table to peddle their wares.
