Greetings! Here's a friendly update about Portland Zine Symposium stuff!

First, the dates for the 2012 Portland Zine Symposium are August 11-12 and it will be held at Refuge as it was last year.

Tables are not sold out!
In fact, 2012 Portland Zine Symposium table registration has not even gone live yet! We have yet to overhaul the website and we can’t do that until we get new artwork so get your artwork in! Expect table registration to go live in mid-March. We will let you know more when we know more.

A note about new tabling policy...

The Portland Zine Symposium has always focused on fostering aspects of community and the sharing of ideas over commerce and capitalism, and that’s why we call it a “symposium” and not a “fest” or a “conference.” In addition to limiting full table registrations, as we have done in the past to create as many spaces as we can for all of the individual zinesters who want to participate in tabling, we are going to try something a little different this year. We are raising the price of full tables to $60 (for the full weekend) and only allowing 10 of them. We are also raising the price of half tables to $30 (for the full weekend).

BUT, we are offering an “UP FOR TRADES” discount of $10 for a full table and $5 for a half table. (Those who only register for one day will receive $5 for a full table and $2.50 off for a half table.) Optioning for this discount at registration will get you an “up for trades” button in your registration packet for you to wear at the symposium to express your support of our community and your willingness to participate in it by trading zines and sharing with other like-minded people. It does not mean that you have to accept any trade you are offered, but instead shows your solidarity with the collaborative and cooperative philosophy we hope to preserve at this event. We hope that by doing this we can continue to make the Portland Zine Symposium a fun and unique experience grounded in community.

Next planning meeting:
The next open planning meeting for the Portland Zine Symposium will be Monday the 27th of February at 7PM. Let us know if you won't be able to make it! We will be voting on artwork and making plans for the future!

That’s all for now,
The Portland Zine Symposium organizers
