Subject: 2011 Portland Zine Symposium: Dates! New location! and more!
Greetings and Salutations from the organizers of the Portland Zine
Symposium! This e-mail is packed with lots of information about the
2011 Portland Zine Symposium including dates, location change, table
registration, and how you can help us make this the best Portland
Zine  Symposium yet!

DATES: If you haven’t heard yet, we finally have dates for the 11th
annual Portland Zine Symposium! The dates are:

August 6th & 7th, 2011

LOCATION: We have a new location for the symposium this year. The
location will be at Refuge (116 SE Yamhill St.) It’s an awesome space
in a great location on the east side, and it even has lots of parking
for cars and bikes plus it will be really close to the new street cat
that is going in on MLK. After looking at over a dozen locations we
are happy to be working with Refuge this year.

ARTWORK: The Portland Zine Symposium organizers are pleased to
announce the winners of the artwork call for this year: Breena
Wiederhoeft (http://www.easelainteasy.com) and Zech Bard! (http://
www.dontgetbored.com) We are still working with them to adapt their
artwork to our website, but you will soon be seeing their handiwork
all over the place.

TABLE REGISTRATION: We know this is what you are all waiting for! But,
table registration will not be open until we update the website and
figure out how many table we can fit into our new space. Please be
patient!

OUTREACH EVENTS: We will be having several fundraising events leading
up to the Portland Zine Symposium as we have in years past: music
shows, Zinester’s Spelling Bee, 24 Hour Zine Challenge, Bike-In Movie,
and more.

The first outreach event we have have scheduled this is Word Game
Wednesday at the Waypost. We are hosting game night on the second
Wednesday of every month from 6pm-9pm at the Waypost (3120 North
Williams Ave). It will be a glorious night of  fun word games like
Scrabble, Apples the Apples, and Bananagrams. The event is free but
there will be a $1 entry fee into each game plus, raffle prizes! Drop
in on a bike ride up Williams, have a snack or a drink, trade zines,
write letters/postcards, and let you glorious wordiness shine!
Dates: April 13, May 11, June 8, July 13

HOW YOU CAN HELP THE PORTLAND ZINE SYMPOSIUM.... As the Portland Zine
Symposium grows and changes so do the needs of our budget. This means
we need your support and there are several way to do that.

Donations: We are, as always, accepting any kind of monetary donation.
Information can be found here: http://pdxzines.com/donations/

Post Card Art Show: Our theme this year is “postmarked.” What better
way to celebrate that than with mail? We are offering a pre-addressed
and pre-stamped blank post card for you to decorate for $5 in the USA
$6 to Canada and Mexico  $7 rest of the world. Once you have colored,
drawn, collaged, typed on or otherwise decorated the post card, drop
it in the mail to us to have it displayed at the 2011 Portland Zine
Symposium. This is an inexpensive, fun, and easy way to support the
Symposium even if you can’t be there yourself.

Thanks for baring with us in our transition to a new location. Changes
can be exciting and sometimes a bit scary but we thing this is the
best decision and we are looking forward to seeing you all there! As
always, keep up to day with us on our webpage (www.pdxzines.com)
Follow us on Twitter (http://twitter.com/pdxzines) or like us on
Facebook (www.facebook.com/PortlandZineSymposium)

Thanks for your support!
The Sympanistas
