The Portland Zine Symposium starts at 10:00AM this Saturday! Here is
some important information about the Portland Zine Symposium this
year, please read carefully...
1. Events happening this week for the Portland Zine Symposium..
* Friday, August 22nd:
o Zine Camp Reading & Zine Potluck / Open Mic. Join us for
Portland Zine Symposium kick off fun at the IPRC! Teen zine readings,
zine potluck, and an open mic reading.. Read more..
* Saturday, August 23nd:
o Portland Zine Symposium at PSU, Day One. Open to the
public from 10:00AM to 5:00PM. More information throughout this
update..
o PZS Pub Crawl with Kelly McElroy. Join Kelly and friends
at Tugboat Brewery (711 SW Ankeny), starting at 6:00PM for a firsthand
look at some of Portland's best craft beer. Read more..
* Sunday, August 24th:
o Portland Zine Symposium at PSU, Day Two. Open to the
public from 10:00AM to 4:00PM. More information throughout this
update..
o PZS Wrap Party and Music Show. After the last of the PZS
tabling, after we're all totally exhausted from the weekend of tabling
and walking around Smith Memorial Ballroom and cramming new ideas/
names into our heads, it will be time to let loose at the Red & Black
Cafe. Starting at 6:00PM, we've got Letters, The Taxpayers, Wooden
Indian Burial Ground, and Please Step Out Of The Vehicle until
10:00PM. Read More..
2. How to get to the Portland Zine Symposium.. Just a reminder: PZS is
held in the Smith Memorial Ballroom, which is on the third floor of
the Smith Memorial Student Union building, on the Portland State
University campus. The address of the building is 1825 SW Broadway.
It's between SW Broadway & SW Park and SW Montgomery & SW Harrison.

3. Doors open to the public 10:00AM on Saturday and Sunday. If you are
not a volunteer or do not have a confirmed table you cannot enter the
ballroom before 10:00AM.
4. Tables are available to registered donators only and seating is
assigned this year. All final table confirmation e-mails have been
sent to tablers. If you have not received your confirmation, please
check your spam folder before e-mailing us.
5. We have a wait list for tabling at PZS! Due to the unprecedented
amount of last minute table registrations there is be a waiting list
for tables. You must arrive by 11:00AM on Saturday to keep your table!
Unless other arrangements are made, all tables not claimed by 11:00AM
on Saturday will be given to those on the waiting list in order of
their registration date. Please contact pdxzi...@gmail.com, if you
need to make arrangements. If you only need your table for one day,
please let us know!
6. All Workshops will be held in Kramer Hall. Kramer Hall is adjacent
to the Smith Memorial Building. All workshop times will be announced
on the ballroom PA and workshop walkers will be available to help you
find the workshops. We will have the workshop schedule up later today
(August 19th). We're sorry we've been unable to get it up sooner.
7. Where to take your questions during PZS.. If you have any questions
please check in with a volunteer staff person at the info desk...
Volunteer staff can be identified by a blue colored, "STAFF" button on
their left sleeve.
8. The Portland Zine Symposium will end at 5:00PM on Saturday! The
Ballroom will be staffed by volunteers, locked at 6:00PM, and not
opened again until 10:00AM on Sunday. You are free to leave items
inside the Ballroom overnight, but please take your valuables with
you. PSU and the Portland Zine Symposium are not responsible for lost
or stolen items.
9. The Portland Zine Symposium will end promptly at 4:00PM on Sunday.
All items must be removed by 5:00PM.
10. Do not tape anything to the walls! Every year this is stressed to
us by PSU, please respect their facilities so that we may use them
again in the future.
11. We have arranged for there to be WI-FI access through PSU. Please
inquire at the information table for a login id and password.

Thank you all again for participating in the 2008 Portland Zine
Symposium and for respecting the facilities and materials that PSU
provides us. This has been a big year for the organizers, full of many
challenges and hurdles, and but we are very excited to be able to
include more tablers this year than ever before.
After all your tiring tabling Saturday and Sunday, don't forget to hit
up the PZS Wrap Up Party at the Red & Black Cafe! Maps to Red & Black
for out-of-towners can be found at the information table.
