Reorganization Saves Recycled Gardens

Due in large part to the public outcry that resulted when POPPA's Board of
Directors announced early in July that Recycled Gardens would be closing
forever, a reorganization has been negotiated and the charity nursery will
now stay open for at least another year and likely through the remaining
four years of it's initial business plan. Staying the course would not be
possible without the continuing support of RG's generous landlady, Dr.
Gregory, who has always donated the use of the property, well water, plus a
bit of electricity, and who now has also agreed to donate half of an annual
salary to hire a new director, Kelly U., whose fresh enthusiasm and energy
are expected to not only reinvigorate veteran volunteers but also recruit
the help of many new ones.

POPPA's President, Keni Cyr-Rumble, says, "We feel that Kelly U. will help
us turn Recycled Gardens into a true money-maker with her new ideas. Kelly
will be rewarded through merit-based financial incentives... if Kelly grows
the business, thereby making more money for POPPA to give away for
spay/neuter surgeries statewide, she will be rewarded financially."

So, expect business as usual at Recycled Gardens for the remainder of the
Summer--the Going, Going, Gone Plant Sale and Facilities Sale have both been
canceled. Plant donations are again welcome and plastic pot recycling shall
continue unabated. Please come "Adopt our plants so we can prune Oregon's
pets!" as there are loads of healthy plants sitting in RG's sales yard
waiting for a new home in your garden.

For more info, or to find out how to volunteer at Recycled Gardens, please
stop by the nursery during regular business hours, Thursday-Sunday, 10-5,
call us at 503-626-4070 ext 3, or write to us online via the website at *
