Subject: POPPA/Recycled Garden's January Update

*
Urgent Volunteer Request:*

POPPA's current  *Spay/Neuter Funds Distribution Coordinator has done a
terrific job over the past year, but desperately needs a break.   If you
would like a volunteer opportunity that you can work on from home and have
access to the internet and a phone, this could be for you.    This rewarding
task involves working directly with potential spay/neuter recipients to find
the best solution for their animals in need.     Please see the position
description at http://www.poppainc.org/VolunteerPos.asp and fill out the
online application if you are interested.   You can also email Beccy
at supp...@POPPAinc.org
for more information.*

*Fishing for Funding:*

POPPA's president, Keni Cyr-Rumble, plans to launch a fundraising campaign
in 2008 that entails fishing inside Oregon's major corporations for
animal-loving employees looking to donate a piece of their paycheck to a
charity that will use 100% of every dollar raised to spay/neuter Oregon's
companion animals.  Lots of companies offer matching donation programs in
order to encourage their employees to give back to their community, but
usually their lists of approved charities are lacking in animal rescue
organizations.  Keni intends to rectify this situation by meeting with
corporate giving coordinators in the Portland area.  And, she could use some
help with both identifying corporations that have such programs in place, as
well as spreading the word.  Interested?  Contact Keni directly at
i...@POPPAinc.org.

We also need cash donations during this time of year.    Although the
nursery is busy with new plants and volunteers, sales are slow through
Spring.   Donations can be made securely only via our website at
http://www.POPPAinc.org/donations.asp or you can mail a check to POPPA Inc,
PO Box 5721, Beaverton OR 97006.   All donations are tax-deductible as
allowed by law.

*Needs at the Gardens:*

*Volunteer request: *We urgently need volunteers for potting and pruning
incoming plants.  We would like to see volunteers who are willing to commit
a minimum of 4 hours per week.     Also, we need people to help dig and
transport plants.  This is a fun task, especially when we have enough people
to spread the work around.  Our current volunteers think that it's been a
real pleasure collecting plants for the garden.  We could use more people in
our reservoir of folks willing to donate time and transport vehicles for
digs.

*Donation request: *  Garden Tools.    We really put our tools through tough
times in the winter months. If you have extras, in excellent condition, or
would be willing to donate new ones, it would be much appreciated.   All
donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

*Mark your calendar:* Recycled Gardens' No Fooolin plant sale will be the
first weekend of April.   Watch our web site at
http://www.RecycledGardens.org updates.

If you can help with volunteer tasks or garden donation needs, please
contact Kelly, Recycled Gardens' Directer, at gar...@POPPAinc.org.
