Welcome to Polytheist Charity, a group devoted to exploring the intersections between our religious and charitable lives. This is a forum for discussion and mutual encouragement related to charity within polytheist religious frameworks. Topics include charity as devotion, charity recommendations, humanitarian concerns, theological/philosophical dimensions, relevant experiences and stories, and so on. We also engage in projects to promote and raise awareness for the kinds of issues discussed here. Finally, there is a page to post your offerings, petitions, and prayers.
Our initial focus is Hellenic due to the composition of early membership, but all polytheist paths are welcome and encouraged. We hope to expand far beyond Hellenism as the group grows. As a member you may participate freely, particularly in the following ways:
Please voice your views and knowledge as this nascent group takes shape. Just do it respectfully - no flaming or other inhospitable language. Don't forget to check out the "pages" section. As the group develops, these pages will become a valuable resource over and above regular email discussions. Once again, welcome! image: Philemon and Baucis, by Bartolommeo Suardi Bramantino, c. 1500. According to legend, the poor couple Philemon and Baucis received two travelers with humble hospitality. Later they discovered that their guests were in fact the gods Zeus and Hermes, and were rewarded for their exemplary virtue.
