When I lived in Phoenix, there was a library that stayed open rather late for a library (10pm or later some days, although they lost points with me for being closed on Sundays). I enjoyed going there at night, as I was a night-person when I lived in Arizona due to getting sick of the constant sunshine and lack of weather. Lately, I go to iHop and Denny's. The coffee, pancakes, and omelets are good at iHop, but I can't recommend anything else they serve. When I lived in a small town for a while, I would go to the 24-hour Wal-Mart to shop at night. It was the nicest store in town (unusually well-kept for a Wal-Mart, as it didn't get much business), and it was the late-night hangout for several folks that I regularly saw there. I once spent a late night at an outdoor mall with some out-of-country visitors who didn't ever go to bed early. It was a peaceful spot to spend some time. When I'm in Orlando, I go to some of the outdoor entertainment venues that are open all night, like Universal's City Walk. It's nice, except for the rowdy drunken crowds that are there some nights. Anyway, those are some places I enjoyed.

We don't have much here that is open all night. One grocery store and
a few gas stations... maybe the bar--not sure what time they close
since I don't hang out there much.
When I lived in Northern Idaho, some of us programmers used to work
late hours in the lab. The local policeman would drop by sometimes
just to chat. It kind of bothered us at first... didn't he have
anything better to do? But then we realized that he really DIDN'T
have anything better to do, and that was actually a good thing!
