PLD Polycystic Liver Disease

1–30 of 1803
This is a PLD polycystic liver disease support group. Tell us how you are doing, anything you may have found helpful, or any difficulties you might be experiencing. PLD can be inherited with kidney cysts or without.

Medical treatments include: minimizing exposure to hormones, avoiding caffeine, and avoiding false estrogens. We are hopeful Octreotide Clinical trials will soon be released for PLD use. There is a pasireotide trial underway in Belgium and the USA.

Surgical options include liver resection liver transplant, and liver artery ablation. Pain and bloating with early satiety are among the most common reported symptoms. For unique individuals with a few large liver cysts or with many close to the surface liver cysts that  can be isolated– deroofing may prove helpful for pain relief.

Some have tried diet and lifestyle changes to help diminish symptoms and liver cyst growth. The good news is 92% of individuals with liver cysts require no treatment. If you are among the 8% with severe liver cysts this may require debulking procedure. Come join us. Here are some useful websites.
