Several months after I requested it, the FBI has sent me their Uniform
Crime Reporting data. I haven't started parsing it yet, but the cover
letter says:

> In response to that request, I am enclosing two Compact discs (CDs) which contain Return A Master Files for 1960 through 2006 and the Arrests Monthly Master Files from 1974 through 2006.
>
> Return A Master Files furnish the number of Part I offenses (murder and nonnegligible manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson) and auxiliary offense data (e.g. burglary: forcible entry, unlawful entry, and attempted entry) for each agency reporting data to the UCR Program; the number of reported offenses cleared by arrest or exceptional means and the number of clearances which involved only juveniles (under 18 years of age); and the reported number of police officers killed and assaulted.
>
> Arrests Monthly Master FIles include arrest data for all participating agencies that submitted 1 month or more of arrest data to the UCR Program. In addition to the general agency information, the file provides the number of arrests for each of the 29 arrest classifications for males, females, and males and females combined. The arrest data by gender are presented in multiple age ranges for both juvenile and adult arrestees. The files include race totals by total juvenile arrestees and total adult arrestees by offense.

As usual, if you're interested in it, let me know. watchdog.net will
probably write a parser for it at some point.
