So, the legislative session starts next Monday, and I was thinking a meeting right before that would be appropriate.
There's a big health care bill that will be moving through the House pretty early in the session (we hope), and if you guys wouldn't mind chatting about health care for an hour I could probably do a quick spiel on what's going on. I've attached the bill in case anybody feels like slogging through it. It's 500 pages, but only the first 20 are really relevant. The rest is just a list of the various ORSes and sections thereof that would be amended. Also, the title says LC1590, but as of yesterday we have a bill number, HB2009.
If this weekend doesn't work for people, can we at least get something on the calendar for January?

Since we're nearing the end of the business day here on Thursday and
we still haven't nailed down a meeting time for this weekend, how
would people feel about waiting another week?
I'm still always willing to talk about health care, but there are
plenty of other topics out there.
What does everyone think? Friday the 16th? Saturday the 17th? Sunday the 18th?

Next weekend works for me, too -- and I don't have a preference as to
Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Perhaps someone who could host could suggest a
day?

I've got it on my calendar. Health care still OK with people? I don't
mind talking about HB 2009, but by next weekend there will likely have
been some bills filed that relate to other topics of interest to the
group.

Healthcare is fine with me. Glad you (other Greg) stepped up to host -- I
too lack crucial things like chairs.
Saturday works for me; just let us know what time.
Happy Friday,

So it is official, we will have a PiM meeting this Saturday the 17th
at my House 2040 SE Main st, Portland OR, 97214. I like the idea of
pot luck again. Lets say, food at 6PM and meeting at 7:30PM.
Greg (other Greg, I am not speaking in the third person) Do you have a
specific issue and or Bill number? Can you recommend reference
sources?
Lennon can we send out message to the email list?
Spread the word, invite friends.

Hey guys. Unfortunately, I need to be in Salem to see my family this
weekend, so I won't be able to attend. I will send progressive thoughts
toward the Capitol while I'm there, though.

Hey, got my weekends mixed up - as it turns out, I'm unavailable. I've
looked over the legislation a bit and really look forward to a wrap up
that makes some sense of it.

Regarding HB 2009, Sections 1-26 deal with the establishment of the
Oregon Health Authority, 124-128 deal with the expansion of the
Medicaid program, and 129-157 (roughly) deal with the tax systems that
will fund the whole thing. The rest is all conforming amendments. More
detail tomorrow when it's not 1:15am.
