Hi,

As far as my understanding goes, the answer should be 'd', i.e. 'Recommended change requests' because 'Perform Integrated Change Control' process should tell about both approved as well as rejected change requests and 'Recommended change requests' doesn't seems to be a status (e.g.: approved/rejected) to be updated in 'change request log'.

Regards,
Varun

Hello,

The right answer is D and can't be B.

As part of the the Change control process, the change request could either be approved, rejected, expedited and validated for the requested change . Change Control Board ( CAB) will not recommend the change requests but approve / reject / validate it. Hence its D.

Thanks

approving, rejecting and recommending are part of integrated change control. Validating the defect repair would be part of the quality control.

I guess, Perform Integrated Change Control provides:

Approved preventive action
Approved corrective action
Approved defect repair
Validated defect repair
Non-approved change requests
Updates of Project Management Plan

"Integrated Change Control – It is performed from project inception thru completion. Here all recommendations for changes, CA, PA and defect repairs are evaluated and either approved or rejected. It includes:
  1. Identifying that a change needs to occur or has occurred
  2. Make sure only approved changes are implemented
  3. Reviewing and approving requested changes
  4. Managing approved changes as and when they occur and regulating them
  5. Maintain integrity of baseline
  6. Review and approve all recommended corrective and preventive actions
  7. Controlling and updating scope, cost, budget, schedule and quality
  8. Documenting impact of requested changes
  9. Validating defect repair"

Varun

Varun

The key word here is "validated" which means quality control. Check output of Perform quality control PMBOK "Validated Changes"
where the change can be a defect repair. So, there is no validation of defect repair under integrated change control.
The correct answer is C.

Integrated change control only approves/rejects change requests or may itself result in change request.

Only approved requests are validated but input to ICC process are only recommended changes. Its not meaningful to have a validated changes as output.
Whereas all approved requests need to be implemented (project execution) but before such an implementation it should be validated and that happens in QC. Whose output goes for implementation. Only proper understanding of entire process flow will help in tricky questions.

Always think if its validation it most likely talking about QC.

Correct Answer is D. Cause we don't have an expersion like Recommended Change Request. we Have recommended change that can be corrective or preventive action.

Arash,

Change request mean Recommended Change Request (output). Do not look for exact word "recommended" change request you will not find it.
Read Rita's book, you will better understanding. If you simply memorize the words as in PMBOK it wont help. You need to understand.
Do not look for exact words as in PMBOK (for ITTO), you may not get it. Unless you understand each term, you will get the question wrong.
Memorizing entire PMBOK wont even help.

Answer is "D". Because "validated" is trick word. It indicates to QC. Because in Perform Integrated Change Control, change request never be recommended.
Varun has explained in good way.
100% sure answer is "D".

Pranav, PMP.
