Can Ubuntu for Android be dockless?

Reading the page on the soon-to-be-released version of Ubuntu for Android:

I'm unclear about whether the docking is optional or not. Obviously
for most productivity purposes it's more convenient to have a
full-sized keyboard and monitor, but if it could work docklessly, it
would be a fantastic way to use Plover on my phone without having to
explicitly port it to Android. I'm fine just stenoing to my phone's
small display. But it's unclear whether this will be supported, or if
it'll only work when hooked up to an external monitor. Is this
addressed anywhere? What do you guys reckon?
