Hi, all! I had a super time with you all this weekend, and we got a great deal done. So -- how to share media? A perennial problem.

For "best shots" that you want to share, I propose we just upload everything to this wiki page on the new site:

It's drag and drop, and saves the hi-res version too. I'll be sure to make a way to view all the high res versions as well, but just drag 'em in there for now. The page can probably handle ~50 images before things start getting really slow, but it's a great way to share some favorites.

Also please paste in links to Flickr galleries, etc, on the page under the "galleries" section for links to more full collections.

For VERY LARGE datasets, please share a Dropbox, or something else, with ME, and I can move them into the Public Lab Archive server and post a link.

Best,
Jeff

We were discussing that it would be nice if there was a linux server we could get accounts on and use SSH2 (with say gFTP or PUTTY) protocol to transfer files to a shared directory.  What about that scheme for large files?

Hi all,
Sounds like an amazing event!
For any flickr users, add the tag "public laboratory" and your photos and name will scroll across the main publiclab.org site.

Has anyone put up a research note yet?
Dorn,
Would you like to coordinate on a ComFood mailing list post? That thread i started last week is still going.
cheers!
Liz

Don, Craig and I just tested a way to share huge #s of images quickly and relatively painlessly -- using BitTorrent.

We've posted instructions here: http://publiclab.org/wiki/sharing-images

If someone has a favorite Windows-based BitTorrent client that does what the example shows without too much fuss, we should link to that too from that page (please edit that page!)

I propose pasting your magnet links (as described in the instructions) onto the image sharing page. I've made a new list on that page to paste them into: http://publiclab.org/wiki/ifarm-2013#BitTorrent+links

Jeff and All,

I've experimented with a way to make the magnet links even friendlier - embed them in an html href, example:
<a href='magnet:?xt=urn:btih:56fd6028055a1f7e11933fcfb92f9a9c58f7e0c4&dn=iFarm-May2013-cwv'>Craig's BitTorrent Magnet</a>

Now they will be clickable and if you have a client you browser will load the torrent! It seems to work out nicely.

I also finally put the first big infragram flight Will Ward and I did onto BitTorrent: magnet:?xt=urn:btih:6f67e4a4ffdc6c4cb8c516015060031998820fb7&dn=infragram-traverse

If you hadn't seen it, Bittorrent sync might be what you're looking for...
