That pretty well sums it up, I believe.
Do we not have a leg to stand on because we purchased the land in good faith
knowing that planning permission was not guaranteed OR were we mis-sold the
land by a company running a collective investment scheme?
Is there any chance of getting our money back, or do we write it off as a
life experience?

Bit late, but! Did you write your article on landbanking? I bought
some plots from PropertySpy a few years back and kind of wished I
hadn't now. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I think what PropertySpy
were doing wasn't actually illegal, it was the extra add on service
that they were offering which implied it was running a collective
investment scheme., That's when the FSA got involved and PS ended up
becoming an online magazine. I believe they are now trading under a
different name. If you want any more info please let me know.
