Hi everyone

As you've probably heard, we're going to open a wormhole with the Munich
sprint, so that we create one big sprint spanning two continents.

We would also like to have quick cross-continent standup meetings in the
mornings where we discuss our progress with one another.

With our current technology, we'll have to settle for webcams and
projectors to do this.

Rudi has generously made his projector available, but we'll also need a
projector for Dojo sessions.

Is there anyone else attending who owns a projector or know from where
we could borrow or lease one for the duration of the sprint?

Thanks!
JC

Are you trialing the wormhole? How does the bandwidth hold up? Will it be
one big screen on each side, or (also) a window on every participant's
desktop? Are individual sessions international traffic also?

I'm going out soon to buy a webcam with a good mic and I'll set up a
dedicated PC at home where I'll be running Google hangout for a whole
day, connecting with the guys in Munich.

I've asked Simon at the Praekelt Office about this but haven't received
a reply yet.

I've attended a hackathon there with about 10 people and it was fine.

You can buy 64Gb 3G data through 8ta for ~R1800 IIRC, so we could
potentially do that to increase bandwidth.

The Munich guys are setting up a webcam and projector off to the one
side of their office, where they can all gather and chat to us. We would
probably do something similar, but we have less space to work with.

For a window on each participants desktop, they'd have to connect
individually to the hangout.

I'm not sure. I guess they could be multiplexed and sent as one stream
overseas, but I don't know.

Apparently it's 4Mbs uncapped and unshaped business ADSL.

Enough to hold 15 to 20 sprinters AND bidirectional video streaming? I
guess not...
