Hi,

We're using lineage for managing a couple of subsites and have requirements
to add quite a few more. With the new sites we'd like users to have
different roles in different subsites.

i.e. On one subsite a user might be an editor (can publish), on another they
might be a contributor (can add content) and on another they may just have
read only access. Is there anyway we can get lineage to support this kind
of behaviour? We have placeful workflow installed but it won't let me
associate a custom workflow with the lineage child folders because it thinks
it's the portal root.

"You are viewing the root of your site. Local workflow configuration is only
available in subfolders of your site"

Any help here would be much appreciated. Lineage is working well and I
don't want to have to create new Plone sites for where we need different
workflows.

thanks in advance

Anthony

At present I don't remember if the lineage folder supports using the sharing
tab, but that would certainly be the easiest way.

We are currently working on fixing a lot of these issues by making lineage
subtyper based. This would allow you to enable/disable any folder as a
Child Site.

The trunk is currently using this method. I will be working on the
migration path from 0.1 -> 0.2 at the Plone Symposium East in hopes of
getting a new release out.

Best,
Clayton

A belated update on this. I've managed to achieve exactly what I was after here using the sharing tab. What I've done is created a number of groups to apply local permissions to. e.g. sub site 1 editors, sub site 2 contributors. I then add contributor / editor permissions to those groups via the sharing tab that is available on lineage child folders. After that I can add users to the relevant groups as required
