Are there any tweaks or different engines to get a more realistic
sounding TTS? I plan to read complex phases from a database so pre-
recording is not an option. Right now I am just using the default
flite tts engine. Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,

Michael

Hi Michael,

You can have a look at Cepstral (http://www.cepstral.com/) or it might be quite easy to integrate Nuance (http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Mod_unimrcp#Nuance_Speech_Server_5.0).

Looks like you are using plivo for more serious usage. Why don't you try out plivo.com

Its a cloud service with all the stuff you have been writing about. We have awesome text to speech there.

You can even use your existing carriers and phone numbers if you don't want to use ours. We don't lock you in.

Venky,

I'd love to check it out. I signed up for a beta but never got an
invite request. I also didn't see much about pricing. But I would be
interested for sure.

Areski,

These are great pointers. I notice the build script defaults to flite,
I would have to mod that to get Cepstral working. Have you had any
luck with. Also, do you know if there is an upgrade script your can
run to recompile everything?

I am still waiting for adding a outbound carrier to plivo cloud, no way to do it, so we are locked :(

We are moving to a hosted plivo setup, but TTS suck. Any idea of a good TTS for plivo opensource?

Thanks

There are better voices for the festival engine, perhaps this would help?
