Hello from Lyme Regis

Turn Lyme Green has been running a campaign to get rid of plastic =carrier bags since last November. Our local primary school – St. Michael’s – has just participated in a short animation film to be shown in the foyer of cinema. It’s aimed at getting visitors on board, and we’re really pleased with it.  You can see it on You Tube  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iI1IokqmDi0

and there is due to be a short piece about it on BBC TV Spotlight tonight (6.30pm)

We celebrated our ‘independence’ from plastic carrier bags on 5th July – already 75% reduction in single use bags, and 90% shops on board – over ½ of which have already switched. We reckon we’re as close as we can be to plastic carrier bag-freedom. We’re moving on to related issues of recycling, home composting, and also shopping locally.

All the best to everyone else out there!

What a wonderful idea. Congratulations! It is especially difficult
when a town has an influx of visitors.

The animation is excellent - very well done.

I'll turn Lyme Blue on the map at Abolish Plastic bags, and I'll stick
the video up there as well.

Excellent!!!
