Hi All

I received a sample today from Biopac of a bag made from waste potato starch, which is fully compostable (and has the certification to prove it). Is anyone else aware of this? Could be the alternative for those who have run into problems with corn starch bags??

I am waiting for costings for the generic design bag - own branding versions are also possible.

See www.biopac.co.uk for details or you can call Biopac direct on 01386 555777.

Hi Catherine

Yes, I'm aware of Biopac. Our company (Ecosac) has supplied cornstarch-
based bags, sacks and carrier bags for the past 6 years made with GM-
free cornstarch. Hundreds of our Customers will testify to the quality
and performance, especially for compostabliity under EN 13432:2000, of
our products. I was intrigued by your remark about 'trouble with corn
starch bags' and if you let me know what this is, I will address it
and get back to you.

We can also supply both generically and purpose printed bags, to a
very high quality and I would be pleased to send information and a
range of samples and prices if you let me have your full contact
details.

Regards

Hi Frazer
Thanks for your reply - we know about your great bags. You supplied us with all the information when we were launching the PBF campaign in Hay last year. (In the event we went with Biobags on price).
My comments about corn starch bags refer to some of the negative comments we had from retailers when we talked to them about alternatives to plastic. Cornstarch bags were felt to be made from a product that could be used as food, which was undesirable given the millions of people affected by famine etc. - and we had a bit of an uphill battle to explain about the provenance of the cornstarch that you and Biobags use.
These new bags from Biopac that are made from waste potato starch may help us get round some of the negativity. The fact that they are made from potato waste will also work well in Hay as we are surrounded by large potato farms!
Hope that helps explains things.
Best wishes
Catherine
